Which Pit Viper drills are compatible with the Automatic Bit Changer?

The Automatic Bit Changer is available for Pit Viper 270 series drills in both rotary blasthole drilling and DTH applications, as well as Pit Viper 290 series (rotary) and Pit Viper 351 (rotary) drills.

Can the Automatic Bit Changer operate autonomously?

Yes. The Automatic Bit Changer supports both autonomous and automatic operation. It can complete a full bit change autonomously or in Assisted Mode, allowing operators to control the process from inside the drill cabin or remotely. In every mode, the system eliminates manual bit handling, improving safety by removing live work from the bit change process.

Can I retrofit the Automatic Bit Changer to my existing Pit Viper drill?

Yes. The Automatic Bit Changer is available as a factory-installed option on new compatible Pit Viper drills and as a field retrofit kit for existing machines. Contact your local Epiroc representative to learn about compatibility and retrofit options for your fleet.
