In today’s competitive environment, drillers are demanding improved processes
and equipment to add value to their operations. To increase efficiency and
lower drilling costs, rigs are expected to deliver more and more energy
to the drill bit. As a result, drill bits must be carefully designed and manufactured
to not compromise the productivity and efficiency of increasingly complex and
expensive drilling systems. Bits have become an even more critical and vital
component in this process.
PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Compact) bits are particularly suited to Oil & Gas and HDD. Now with improved technology and lower costs, PDC bits are making haedway into waterwell, geotechnical and mining.
Our Steel PDC drill bits are designed for maximum strength in a variety of drilling applications. The feature polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) cutters.
The 4140 alloy steel body is 3D designed and CNC machined for maximum blade and body strength, while tungsten carbide hardfacing in critical areas offers increased erosion and abrasion resistance. Tungsten Carbide Insert (TCI_-enhanced gauge pads offer increased gauge protection.
The parabolic profile of the bit is optimized for blade count, cutter quality and bit stability. Force-balanced PDC cutter locations minimize bit whirl to drill a precise, round hole. The asymmetric blade design reduces drilling harmonics, and blade protection elements are strategically located to maximize bit life. "Standard" bits will have back-up TCI bumpers. "X" bits feature back-up PDC cutters.
Every aspect of these bits is designed to maximize efficiency and strength. They feature a cast infiltrated tungsten carbide matrix shell for maximum erosion and abrasion resistance. The internal steel blank is 3D designed and CNC manufactured for maximum blade and body strength. Thermally stable polycrystalline (TSP) diamond enhanced pads offer maximum gauge protection, and the bit's parabolic profile is optimized for blade count, cutter quality and bit stability. Force-balanced PDC cutter locations minimize bit whirl and drill a precise, round hole, while the asymmetric blade design reduces drilling harmonics. Blade protection elements are located strategically to maximize bit life. "Standard" bits will have back-up tungsten carbide pumpers, while "X" bits feature back-up PDC cutters.
We offer a variety of PDC reamers. Located behind the bottom hole assembly (BHA) of the drill string in either oil - or water-based mud drilling applications, the reaming tool smooths and slightl enlarges curved and horizontal sections of horizontal bores.
The Klaw has steel body bits with replaceable carbide picks for blasthole, waterwell, geothermal, mining, fiber optic, exploration and HDD (horizontal directional drilling).
Designed from one-piece 4140 steel alloy for blade and body strength, these bits feature carbide pick cutters and an open center dsign for maximum air flow. The bit body is protected by strategically-placed tungsten carbide inserts with Kutrite on the leading edge of gage pads.
Klaw blasthole bits from Epiroc are 3D designed and CNC machined to meet exact design specifications that ensure consistent quality bit after bit, run after run.
Build your bit with the features you want!
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) bits from Epiroc are 3D designed and CNC machined to meet exact design specifications and to ensure product repeatability. Every aspect of these bits is designed for maximum efficiency and durability. Optimized placement and attack angles of the Klaw cutters on the one-piece 4140 alloy steel bit body ensure maximum formation removal as well as bit and body strength. Strategically-placed tungsten carbide inserts protect the bit body while stabilizer pads center the hole opener in the pilot bore. These bits feature six different interchangeable carbide nozzles for versatility in a variety of applications and conditions.
