Epiroc introduces the new Pit Viper 276

A proven rotary blasthole drill for soft rock applications with enhanced performance and advanced, scalable automation features.

Epiroc introduces the Pit Viper 276, the latest addition to its rotary blasthole drill portfolio. Designed for soft rock surface mining applications, the Pit Viper 276 builds on the proven reliability of the Pit Viper series with increased hole depth, enhanced drilling performance, and advanced, scalable automation features.

Designed for hole diameters from 9 to 10 5/8 inches (229–270 mm), the Pit Viper 276 drills up to 239 feet (73 meters) using a five-rod carousel and features increased rotary torque, larger P14 pumps, improved leveling capability (up to 10 degrees), and an expanded dust hood to improve cuttings dispersal. Together, these enhancements deliver greater productivity, adaptability, and drilling performance across a wide range of soft rock applications.

"The Pit Viper 276 combines proven performance with the flexibility customers need to meet today's production demands. From increased hole depth capability and improved leveling performance to higher torque, the PV-276 helps customers maximize productivity while maintaining the durability and reliability that have made the Pit Viper series an industry benchmark."

Cynthia Rodriguez, Global Product Manager

The Pit Viper 276 comes standard with Epiroc's Rig Control System (RCS), offering advanced automation features ranging from onboard automation to teleremote and fully autonomous drilling. Built on the same proven operating platform, the system gives customers the flexibility to choose the level of automation that best meets their operational needs.

Safety is integrated throughout the machine. A FOPS-certified operator cab, RCS safety interlocks, and the optional Live Work Elimination package help reduce operator and technician exposure to hazardous tasks while improving maintenance efficiency and machine availability. Features such as the optional Automatic Bit Changer and Live Work Elimination solutions further reduce manual intervention during operation and routine service.

The Pit Viper 276 also incorporates Epiroc's patented cable feed system with automatic cable tensioning, reducing wear on critical components and extending drill string life, helping lower total cost of ownership over the life of the machine.

The launch of the Pit Viper 276 reflects Epiroc's continued commitment to delivering practical innovations that improve safety, productivity, and operational performance across every segment of the mining industry. Combining proven performance with advanced automation and enhanced serviceability, the Pit Viper 276 demonstrates that even highly specialized applications benefit from continuous innovation.
