Erik Lind | Sofware Developer

"Technology makes the job more fun. It's super fun to work at Epiroc! We have a good collaboration between colleagues, and your opinions are valued even if you are new. Even though the mining industry is hundreds of years old, we work with new and advanced technology."

Erik Lind is a software developer who builds programs that primarily control Epiroc drill rigs. He describes his work as varied, where he initially had to develop the graphical interfaces in the machines and now works a lot with cameras and video streams connected to control and automation.

"We are building a library for the different application teams to use the cameras available on all machines. One can control and zoom where one looks. Some cameras have something similar to windshield wipers, which also needs to be controlled," explains Erik.

He says that the team constantly reviews each other's source code and comments on each other's work so that the newer abilities can continuously learn and share knowledge from the more experienced developers. It created a massive sense of safety during the first time at work.

"It was easy to ask my colleagues about anything. No questions were too stupid. We do a lot of couple programming, sit two and two, and solve a task together. It was very educative at the beginning when you are new and can sit and write the code with a more senior colleague, who can guide and give suggestions on how it can be done", says Erik.

Erik started at Epiroc right after his studies. Two years go by fast, and Erik has learned a lot during that time. He thrives well both in the team and in the company as a whole. In the future, he wants to be good at what he does and hopes that he gets to take on more responsibility in his areas but that his role stays mostly the same.
