The Pit Viper 275 rotary blasthole drill rig has become a mining industry staple, thanks to its proven performance and reliability.
With a 34 ton (75,000 lbs) bit load capacity, the durable PV-275 is designed for adaptability - so it easily fits into any drilling operation. It was originally used primarily in coal overburden drilling due to the 311 kN (70,000 lbf) of pulldown it provides to a rotary tricone bit up to 270 mm (10-5/8 in). Today, the PV-275 has also expanded into hard rock applications such as copper and iron mines.
If technology, productivity, and long asset life with the lowest total cost of ownership are on your list of priorities, look no further than the Pit Viper series. Equipped with a standard Rig Control System (RCS) operating platform, the PV-275 sets the bar for efficiency.
The standard RCS provides on-board automation capability as part of the standard drill package to help deliver safety and productivity. With RCS, you can run automation with an operator on board with options like auto drill and auto level, or you can run with the operator off the drill with the optional BenchREMOTE package, allowing one operator to run one or multiple units. With the RCS system on Pit Vipers, you can even achieve your ambition of fully autonomous drilling with almost no human interaction with the drill.

The Pit Viper 275 can now be configured with the XC package (eXtra Capacity) to provide 42.5 tons (85,000 lbs) bit load capacity. Along with our proven list of options, the perfect PV-275XC can be configured for your specific application. The PV-275XC takes the industry-leading Pit Viper 275 to another level of productivity and reliability, ultimately contributing to the lowest total cost of ownership in the blasthole drilling industry in its class. Epiroc’s PV-275XC delivers a hole diameter range up to 270 mm (10-5/8 in) in both the multi-pass and single-pass. RCS 5 provides a foundation to add new functionality and options later without a major rebuild of the machine. Autonomous drilling can be implemented with almost no human interaction with the drill.
By partnering with industry leading mining companies, we are working to transform the drilling process. Meet our fully autonomous Pit Viper - this giant rig does all of its work without an operator on-board.
