HERO™ Core Bits

Since 2009, HERO core bits have been many diamond drillers’ most popular choice. HERO bits are recognized within the industry for offering an outstanding penetration/lifespan ratio. The entire line of HERO core bit is manufactured using only the highest grade diamonds, which are coated with titanium in order to preserve their cutting abilities. What’s more, HERO line of core bits is manufactured using a unitary furnacing process that ensures the consistency required to meet Fordia’s exceptional quality standards.

With its six matrices, the HERO line allows drillers to achieve excellent drilling performance in ground with rock hardness ranging from 3.5 to 8 on Mohs scale, and is also suitable for softer, abrasive ground. Each matrix within this series is available in a Vulcan configuration for deep hole drilling. For hard, abrasive ground, make sure to choose the HERO Abrasive line of core bits for the same excellent penetration/lifespan ratio.

HERO 3

HERO 3 matrix is specially designed to provide an excellent penetration/lifespan ratio in soft and abrasive ground such as sandstone, shale and limestone.

  • Ideal for abrasive ground with a hardness rating of between 3 and 5.5 on Mohs scale
  • Recommended in a pie-shape configuration to allow a greater evacuation of drill cuttings
  • 13 mm standard diamond height available in Vulcan 16 mm

HERO 5

HERO 5 provides optimum performance in soft to medium hard ground, while also offering good performance in hard ground. Choose the HERO 5 for ground consisting of diorite, abrasive coarse-grained granite, basalt or dolomite.

  • Works well on soft to medium hard ground rated 4 to 6 on Mohs scale
  • Its unique composition includes larger synthetic diamonds for optimal penetration in a variety of grounds
  •  13 mm standard diamond height, also available in Vulcan 16 mm, 20 mm and 26 mm

HERO 7

HERO 7 matrix is one of the most popular in the industry. It cuts through quartz and all types of granite or equivalent hardness rocks without any problem, and is well adapted to softer and abrasive ground.

  • Works on medium to hard ground between 5 and 6.5 on Mohs scale
  • Available in a variety of crown configurations
  • Available in Vulcan 16 mm, 20 mm and 26 mm

HERO 8

The Hero 8 follows our tradition of tailoring core bits for specific ground conditions and drilling challenges. When The Hero 7 is not enough and the Hero 9 is too much, we now offer drillers the Hero 8, a bit that excels in medium-hard to hard ground conditions, such as granite and gneiss.

  • Ideal for rock between 5.5 to 7 on Mohs scale
  • Exceptional penetration rate and durability
  • Available in Vulcan 16 mm, 20 mm and 26 m

HERO 9

HERO 9 facilitates drilling in hard to very hard ground, such as granite or syenite. It offers great lifespan even under the most demanding drilling conditions.

  • Works better in hard to very hard ground, between 6 and 7.5 on Mohs scale
  • Matrix allows easy sharpening and long lasting life
  • Available in Vulcan 16 mm, 20 mm and 26 mm

HERO 11

HERO 11 matrix is specially designed to conquer hard to extremely hard ground, such as basalt, felsic or volcanic rock that is often found in South America or Australia.

  • Suitable for very hard to extremely hard ground, from 6.5 to 7.5 on Mohs scale
  • Extremely sharp matrix provides more bite than lower level matrices
  • Available in Vulcan 16 mm, 20 mm and 26 mm

HERO 13

The HERO 13 is a new matrix developed for drilling in the hardest ground, such as calcite, quartzite and taconite. This bit will stay sharp without the need for heavy bit pressure or water flow reduction. It is a freer cutting core bit and as part of the HERO line of products, it provides the same excellent penetration/lifespan ratio.

  • Suitable for very hard ground, from 7 to 8 on the Mohs scale
  • Good self-sharpening qualities
  • Available in Vulcan 16 mm, 20 mm and 26 mm
