Line-of-sight operations is an effective way of working without having operators inside stopes and areas exposed to risks of falling rock. All mucking in narrow stopes can be carried out along the ore body, which means that costly cross cut development in waste rock can be reduced.

 

Scooptram Radio remote control (RRC) is safe, ergonomic and efficient. When personal safety can’t be guaranteed, RRC enables an operation from a safe distance so the operator can stay away from the exposed area while mucking and loading.

The next step to improve line-of-sight operations is to add a better view. Video assist uses the cameras on the underground loader and gives the operator possibility to see the loading on a screen. The improved visibility makes it easier to get more load in the bucket which makes the material handling process more efficient. 

Load assist function further improves line-of-sight operations through automation. Load assist gives the loader an algorithm to do the mucking in an autonomous mode. One just needs to aim the loader into the muck pile, activate Load assist and apply throttle. Autonomous loading through Load assist gives a higher production cycle consistency and process accuracy. 

Automated and tele-remotely controlled operations can significantly increase productivity and improve safety at the same time. It can also increase consistency of daily operations, yet providing predictable results.
