PowerROC D45 - a new all-round drill rig for China

A new, straightforward down-the-hole drill rig to meet demands from the aggregate and limestone drilling contractors and quarry owners in China is now available from Atlas Copco for all-round use in the 90–130 mm hole range.

Called PowerROC D45, it is a DTH (Down-The–Hole) rig with a direct control system, and a hole of range 90–130 mm, commonly used by the country’s drillers.

"The hole range covers the applications in most aggregate and limestone quarries today, with 115 mm as the most popular hole diameter. This rig is therefore perfectly suited for that size and is also exceptionally easy to use and maintain."

Atlas Copco predicts that the new rig will become popular in the near future with contractors and quarry owners as it combines high reliability due to low amount of electric components with increased output without added labor costs compared with pneumatic rigs, and gives a high level of safety and environmental care. This direct control design requires less maintenance, which results in high availability. In addition, the rig has an automatic rod handling system and provides consistent, reliable drilling coupled with a good working environment thanks to its ergonomically designed cabin and effective dust collection system. The PowerROC D45 features a 232 kW engine and a well-proven Atlas Copco single stage compressor with a working pressure of 17 bar. Weiwen Xu concludes that the PowerROC D45 will give reliable performance thanks to the proven technology behind Atlas Copco’s successful hydraulic surface drilling products.
