Epiroc Presented on Autonomy and Remote Mining and Quarry Operations at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026

In early March, Epiroc took the stage at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 to present “Designing Autonomy Around People: The Future of Remote Mining and Quarry Operations” on the Ground Breaker’s Stage.

The session explored solutions to improve safety, maintain productivity, and build a more sustainable workforce, with a focus on how autonomy and remote technologies are being used to address these pressures in practical, real-world ways. Attendees gained insight into why they should adapt automation technology, why they should make this change now, and how automation and remote technology can be tailored to fit the needs of their operations.

What Attendees Learned

  • How automation and remote operations are reshaping mining and quarry workflows
  • How automation technology enables associate growth and higher-skill roles while also helping address labor constraints, improving safety by reducing exposure to hazards, increasing efficiency, and extending equipment life through more consistent operation
  • Real-world results about how the collaboration between Epiroc and Luck Stone is using advanced automation to create meaningful impact

"Over the past 15 years, Epiroc has evolved from onboard automation to teleremote operations and finally to fully autonomous solutions, driving measurable improvements in safety, productivity, and operational consistency,” says Ron Hankins, Vice President and Business Line Manager at Epiroc. “Taking the stage alongside Luck Stone, we will demonstrate that automation is not only about what machines can do, but also about how it empowers people to work smarter and safer, creating a meaningful difference for our customers, our communities and our industry."

Ron Hankins, Vice President and Business Line Manager at Epiroc

Luck’s partnership with Epiroc is a natural fit, grounded in strong values of alignment. This project creates even greater opportunity to make a meaningful difference for our customers, our communities, and our industry.”"

Chuck Stilson, Senior Director of Engineering at Luck Stone.

Dana Wuesthoff, CONEXPO-CON/AGG Show Director tells us that “These conversations move beyond products to address the strategies and technologies driving long-term progress in construction.”
