JTMEC secures major infrastructure contract in Sydney

18 de octubre de 2022

Epiroc’s recent acquisition of JTMEC, a leading Australian electrical contracting company which provides specialized turnkey electrical services and products to mining and tunneling industries, has helped it to secure one of its largest ever contracts.

The contract is with leading global engineering and infrastructure companies Gamuda Australia and Laing O’Rourke on the Sydney Metro West – Western Tunnelling Package. JTMEC will be completing the design, manufacture, delivery, assembly (including testing and commissioning) of the temporary high voltage and low voltage electrical reticulation system from Sydney Olympic Park to Westmead until approximately August 2025. This includes fabrication of 4 x site circuit breaker metering panels, 6 x 11kV switching rooms, 7 x 11kV/415v containerized substations and 6 x 11kV/1000V skid mounted substations and Distribution Control Boards (DCBs), tunnel boring machine (TBM) cabling and mined tunnel operations cabling and lighting supply.

This will be one of the largest contracts awarded to JTMEC in its history, surpassing the recently completed 4 MAUD Secondary Crusher and 6 MAUD L1N Underground Projects at North Parkes Mine in Central West NSW.

JTMEC General Manager Scott Bell has stated that ‘since the Epiroc acquisition in June 2022, the JTMEC business continues to go from strength to strength, and that this is a perfect example showing that with the enhanced capability and support provided by being part of the larger Epiroc group, great things are being achieved for current and new clients alike, and we look forward to delivering a high-quality project for all concerned.’
