Environmental performance

Companies working in mining and infrastructure industries are playing important roles in providing the world with the necessary raw materials to convert from being fossil-fuel based over to lower carbon alternatives. It is however, evident that operations must be sustainable. That means operations that use low-carbon options, should have minimal environmental impact, and improve the working environment in a productive and cost-effective way. On this page, further information detailing the environmental performance of our equipment can be found.

Epiroc Carbon Footprint and Life Cycle Assessment

As a result of our commitment to combat climate change and contribute to zero-emissions operations in our customers’ operations, Epiroc is in the process of rolling out climate footprint data for our key products.

There are currently ongoing initiatives to establish Product Category Rules for certain products. However, due to the absence of established Product Category Rules for the industry, the Environmental Product Declaration standard does not apply. Consequently, comparing product climate footprint reports from different Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) is challenging due to variations in methodology, system boundaries, and input data.

Applied standards for assessment

Epiroc's methodology to calculate carbon footprint is based on global ISO standards for Life Cycle Assessment.

Carbon footprint/LCA principles according to ISO 14040/44:2006

Product specific information

Interpretation of carbon footprint/LCA result

Please note the actual carbon footprint from products differ. Epiroc has a production and supply chain which covers the globe, meaning that specific carbon footprints differ. To get a complete carbon footprint from a product,  known as cradle-to-grave, is complex.

Comparing carbon footprint/LCA results listed here with result from another product result is only valid if the assumptions, scope, and context of that LCA study are equivalent.
